Back in 1998 Spyro the Dragon debuted on the PlayStation as one of a new breed of 3D platform game. The plot was fairly simple: the Gnasty Gnorc turned all the dragons in the land into crystal. All the dragons except for one of course: Spyro. Since then, the little purple dragon has featured in many a game, making the next generation to Gamecube, PlayStation and Xbox, while still finding time to pop up in a selection of Game Boy Advance games. So an outing on the DS was pretty much inevitable, and so comes Spyro for an all new adventure on Nintendo's hinged handheld. Once again, the plot involves all the inabitants of Dragon Realms being held to ransom. All except for Spyro, who wakes up and realises he's the only one who can do anything about it. A huge storm leaves the little chap unconscious while his friends are abducted. All are taken to the terrible Shadow Realms, and in the rubble of what used to be his village's Hall of Elders he finds the injured body of the wise Magnus, who tells him what he has to do. The good news is that his friends can be rescued from the Shadow Realms. The bad news: if he doesn't rescue them within three moons they'll all be lost forever. The adventure, which looks clear and bright on the DS's screens, will see Spyro descend deeper and deeper into a fiery underworld. The brave little dragon will find himself pitched against huge enemies many times his size, and will have to strain every sinew in his little purple body if he ever wants to see his friends again. Another compelling chapter in the history of the plucky little dragon and his continued defiance of the forces of dragon-abducting evil.
