In this instalment, players control Megaman X on a mission to sneak onto the Gigantis Islands and stop the rebellion caused by the evil Liberion Army. Many boss characters await Megaman X, all under the control of General Upsilon. Megaman will not only meet enemies on his new adventure, many friends, old and new are waiting to help Megaman on the danger fraught islands. Your HQ is called Hunter Base and from here you can warp to battle stages and progress the story by clearing the varied stages. There are many sub stories called 'quests' you can receive in the Hunter Base. As you complete them, you may be able to acquire more partners and enhance your equipment. Various enemies and traps will interrupt Megaman on his adventure. Overcome numerous challenges, get special items and break through the dungeons to progress onto new and exciting levels. In addition to the brand new party battle system, this title features a 'X (Cross) Order System'. With this system, your character's action order changes depending on the combat situation.
