In the past, Abe was just focused on saving workers. No need for bashing heads together - just sneak in, save a few members of the proletariat and then sneak out again. But now he and his people have realised they were lied to for generations, and Abe's gone and accidentally started a revolution. The latest Oddworld game is still a darkly comic platformer that you can play sneakily if you prefer, but now you can throw a bit of napalm around as well! That core gameplay loop remains unchanged though - make your way around huge, cinematic, 2.9D (that's Oddworld Inhabitants' description - better not to ask what it means) levels, gathering up workers to effectively become the head lemming and then lead them out. As well as options like possessing the nasty sligs, however, you have more aggressive options such as the aforementioned napalm grenades. You'll have to craft them, mind, by foraging around in bins and raiding vending machines. You might opt for something a bit less destructive, like a fart bomb. And by attaching elastic bands to your projectiles you can even bounce them around levels like you're playing alien snooker. Killing has consequences, though, and murdering sligs or letting workers die will generate bad quarma (it's just karma, basically) that sullies your more spiritual abilities like possession. You can even set the workers you save to behave either aggressively or pacifically. Oddworld Soulstorm is a more action-focused entry to the series, but it remains very true to the franchise's roots.
