TimeSplitters is a first-person shooter from five of the people that worked on the BAFTA award winning Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64. The game is set in the hundred years spanning the 2nd millennium between 1935 and 2035. The TimeSplitters are an evil race dwelling outside of time and space. For aeons they have manipulated the fate (can fate really be manipulated?) of our world in ways we could never imagine. You must unravel the hidden truth behind these invaders and bring peace back to Earth. Their species is covert and secretive, and lives in a shadow dimension. They are now planning an attack on our world. It's up to you to save the planet. TimeSplitters features simultaneous 1-4 player deathmatch options. The whole concept of multi-player games has to be the way forward. You just can't beat the buzz of gloating over your defeated friends. You can also play a two-player split screen co-operative game where you and a friend try to complete the game together. The pace of TimeSplitters is fast and furious, the action comes quick and fast, never letting up for a second. The levels are varied and richly detailed and provide a perfect backdrop for the action. The sound effects are well done and fit the game perfectly. TimeSplitters will grip you from the word go and keep you enthralled for months. If you get the chance, play with a keyboard and mouse configuration: it makes the game feel twice as good. First person shooters benefit from this kind of set-up as many PC fans will testify. Not only is the mouse analogue, it can also be moved at different speeds. So twitching your hand snaps your view around quickly, whereas smoother motions result in gentler head movement. Because using the mouse is more natural, it makes the game more immersive. Even though pads are a decent alternative, using a mouse makes the experience seem even more real. The action and addiction of the multi-player frenzy will have you hooked, while the amazing visual provide aesthetics for your eyes. TimeSplitters is a classy game, check it out for yourself.
