Fellowship of the Ring, in development by Seattle-based Surreal Software, is one of 2002's hottest releases and is scheduled for release this Autumn for Microsoft's Xbox powerhouse. An action adventure, the game features three members of the Fellowship as playable characters. In a storyline faithful to the first part of Tolkien's epic novel, players relive the experiences of Frodo, Aragorn and Gandalf as they journey from the peaceful lands of the Shire through the darkness of Moria to the River Anduin. On their quest to protect the One Ring from the Dark Lord Sauron, players will explore the massive environments of Middle-earth while solving puzzles and fighting enemies such as Orcs, Black Riders and an evil Balrog. Fellowship of the Ring will be very much an adventure title, but features heavy elements of role-playing, such non-playable characters and extensive dialogue. Making excellent use of the most powerful games console created, gamers can be sure of an immersive, involving and thoroughly addictive experience. We can hardly wait!
